UFC star Jon Jones suspended for one year following failed drugs test

An independent panel made the call after he failed an out-of-competition drug test last June.

UFC STAR JON Jones has been given a one-year ban from MMA following a failed drugs test, it has been confirmed.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) today announced the punishment for the interim UFC light heavyweight champion.

An independent panel made the call after he failed an out-of-competition drug test last June.

Jones had been due to fight Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 last July before news of his failed test was announced, while the star subsequently denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs.

“While the decision indicates no evidence of Jones’ intentional use of banned substances, it does highlight the care and diligence that is required by athletes competing in the UFC to ensure that no prohibited substances enter their system,” the UFC said in a statement.
