VIDEO: Half a million welcome Japanese Olympians home

Who knew Tokyo could get so crowded.

SINCE THAT BIG old flame went out, we’ve seen one or two Olympic homecomings. There was a rain-sodden Dublin and, of course, Ugandan Stephen Kiprotich was rewarded handsomely.

But we haven’t seen anything quite like this.

An estimated 500,00 people thronged the streets in Tokyo to greet their 71 athletes home – and 38 medals – home.
