WITH CHRISTMAS ALL done and dusted now a lot of people are taking to the gyms to get 2017 off to a good start.

The key battle that some gym newcomers face this time every year, is whether this will be the year that they stick with it and make the gym a regular part of life.

One of the common reasons that people give up on the gym is that they end up hurting themselves, from pushing themselves too hard, or not warming up properly.

Andrew Moore from Fitness Goose and Flyefit, with the help of Tania Faturik, come across a lot of these injuries in the gym and have a few tips to help those easing themselves back into an active lifestyle.

They share a few tips in the video above about how to warm up effectively so that you can get through the workout without damaging your muscles.

The three main areas to focus on in the warm up are raising your pulse, loosening the muscles up and loosening the joints.

Andrew and Tania are personal trainers in Flyefit Georges St and you can get in contact with them at the Fitness Goose website (or find Tania on Facebook).
