5 senior players included in Waterford U21 side for Munster semi-final

The Deise are in action in tomorrow’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21 hurling semi-final against Clare.

WATERFORD HAVE NAMED five senior players who lined out against Kilkenny last Saturday night for tomorrow’s Bord Gáis Energy Munster U21 hurling semi-final against Clare.

But Pauric Mahony, who missed last weekend’s senior clash through injury, is not named in the starting 15 here in a major setback for the Deise outfit.

The game takes place in Walsh Park at 7.30pm with the Deise hoping to draw on the experience of the players who lost out after extra-time in an epic encounter to the Cats in Semple Stadium.

Centre-back Darragh Fives, wing-forward Jake Dillon and centre-forward Jamie Barron all started for the Waterford seniors in that game.

While wing-backs Ray Barry and Paudie Prendergast were both introduced as substitutes during the game.

Interestingly Barry is selected at wing-back here after scoring 1-3 upon his introduction in attack for Michael Ryan’s senior side.

Corner-forward Eamonn Murphy has previously had senior inter-county experience with Waterford while full-back Tadhg Bourke, midfielder Kieran Power and corner-forward Colin Dunford all won Dr Harty Cup medals last year with Waterford Colleges.

WATERFORD: Darren Duggan (Dungarvan); Shane McNulty (De La Salle), Tadhg Bourke (Clashmore/Kinsalebeg), Shane Roche (Shamrocks); Ray Barry (Lismore), Darragh Fives (Tourin), Paudie Prendergast (Lismore); Kieran Power (Clonea), Donie Breathnach (An Rinn); Jake Dillon (De La Salle), Jamie Barron (Fourmilewater), Colm Curran (Dungarvan); Colin Dunford (Colligan), Stephen Roche (Mount Sion), Eamonn Murphy (Dunhill).
