WAYNE ROONEY IS off the mark in Major League Soccer.

Following his recent move from Everton, the 32-year-old forward opened his account for DC United by giving them a first-half lead in last night’s 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids.

Rooney, who made his debut for his new club a fortnight ago, was played in by Luciano Acosta before placing the ball between the legs of Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard, who was a team-mate during their time at Manchester United.

Rooney finished the game with blood pouring from his face after he sustained a broken nose and a wound near his eye while defending a corner in stoppage time.
