Wayne Rooney has deleted 'Manchester United player' from his Twitter bio

He’s now simply a ‘Nike athlete’, it seems.

IN THE COURT of public opinion, this is circumstantial. But the evidence is piling up that Wayne Rooney is preparing for an exit from Old Trafford.

This morning reports emerged that the England striker informed Alex Ferguson of his desire to leave Man Utd  in an ‘informal conversation’ two weeks ago.

This morning, Rooney has removed the words ‘Manchester United player’ from his Twitter account. In modern football, it’s the equivalent to setting your Facebook relationship status to ‘It’s complicated’.
