We've just seen the first hole-in-one on the 17th at Sawgrass since 2002

Will Wilcox strikes a blow for yellow golf balls everywhere.

THE ICONIC 17TH hole at TPC Sawgrass does not give up too many birdies.

According to ESPN’s Jason Sobel, there have been over 14,500 tee shots at the island hole since 1983 and, before the start of play today, only six of them had gone in for an ace.

The most recent hole-in-one belonged to the vin rouge-swilling, cigar-toking, all-round legend that is Miguel Angel Jimenez — but that happened all the way back in 2002.

And then Will Wilcox, a little-known American (ranked 134th in the world) with an unorthodox swing and an even more unorthodox choice of golf ball (yellow) did what so few others have managed to do.

Boy did he celebrate!
