VALENCIA STRIKER ROBERTO Soldado is unsure he will make Spain’s Euro 2012 squad despite bagging a hat-trick in the 5-0 friendly win over Venezuela.

The world and European champions are in the same group as Ireland, as well as Italy and Croatia.

The 26-year-old hitman came on as a second-half substitute to score three times in Malaga on Wednesday, sending a strong message to coach Vicente del Bosque ahead of the European Championship. However, the Valencia forward dismissed the notion that his performance on Wednesday has all but guaranteed him a place in the squad.

“Del Bosque will not base his judgement on just one match, but on my progress and continuous performances,” he told AS. ”There are two months left before the end of the season and only then will the squad be decided.”

“If I want to be at Euro 2012, I have to perform well at Valencia and score goals for the remainder of La Liga. (Fernando) Torres, (Alvaro) Negredo, (David) Villa and (Fernando) Llorente also have the same goal and there is a lot of competition.”

Soldado then went on to praise his Spain team-mates for helping him net his hat-trick in style.

“If I scored a hat-trick at first-touch, it is because Spain’s touch is perfection,” Soldado said. ”When a striker is able to score with just one touch, it is because his team-mates made everything well and the ball is in the right place for the final shot.

“Playing for Spain is easy, once you get used to the speed at which the ball is played. The team’s work during the first half and Llorente’s attempts were also important. This is a fantastic team.”

Soldado returns to action for Valencia on Sunday with a trip to Granada in La Liga.
