Wozniacki, Djokovic and Federer all win

Womens’ number one seed marches on as Djokovic and Fed set up tantalising Mens’ semi.

FIRM FAVOURITE CAROLINE Wozniacki sealed her spot in a US Open semi-final against Vera Zvonareva with a win over Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova last night.

The Dane won 6-2, 7-5 against unseeded Cibulkova at Flushing Meadows in windy conditions. “This felt like playing in a hurricane. But it was the same for both players and I’m so happy to get through” said Wozniacki after her win.

The wind was also a factor for Novak Djokovic in his match against Gael Monfils  at the Arthur Ashe stadium, but the Slovak number three seed won 7-6 (7-2), 6-1, 6-2.

Djokovic now faces number two seed Roger Federer in the semi-final after the Swiss beat Robin Soderling, who defeated him last year’s US Open final, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.
