EVERY FIGHTER IN the UFC with a realistic chance of fighting Conor McGregor seems to be joining the queue for a big-money fight with the Dubliner these days.

McGregor’s fight with Jose Aldo in December is the one everybody is looking forward to for now, but a meeting with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at some point in the future is a bout every MMA fan would appreciate.

Like McGregor, Cerrone is one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster and a rivalry between the pair has been building recently. It came to a head earlier this month at a press conference in Las Vegas, when the American lightweight engaged in an entertaining back-and-forth exchange with the UFC’s interim featherweight champion.

Cerrone currently has his sights set on UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, who he’ll be aiming to dethrone in Orlando on 19 December.

But with McGregor aiming to eventually move up a weight class and join Cerrone in the 155lbs division, ‘Cowboy’ is obviously laying the foundations for a lucrative clash with the Irish superstar.

In a not-so-subtle dig at McGregor, Cerrone has released a line of exclusive t-shirts, bearing the caption: ‘Hunting gold and leprechauns’.

Cerrone might lose a few Irish fans — of which there are many — by pursuing the fight with McGregor, but we’re sure the benefits for his bank balance would make up for it.
