Irish midfielder Hourihane continues his fine Championship form

Ciaran Clark was also on the score-sheet last night.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER of the month for August, Conor Hourihane, continued his fine form as Barnsley maintained their early push for Premier League promotion.

The Irish midfielder pulled the strings in a 4-0 win over Wolves, though the Tykes had to wait until the 73rd minute before making the breakthrough at Molineux.

The 25-year-old opened the scoring for his side with a well placed shot that nestled into the bottom left hand corner. That opened the floodgates for Barnsley with Adam Hammill, Saidy Janko and Tom Bradshaw adding the rest.

They are now just one point behind leaders Huddersfield, alongside Newcastle United who beat Queens Park Rangers 6-0 last night, with Irish international Ciaran Clark among the goalscorers.

2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Pérez, Shelvey added a second before Clark, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Grant Hanley completed the hammering.
