David de Gea will remain on the fringes at Manchester United for a little longer

Sergio Romero will continue in goal against Aston Villa on Friday night.

LOUIS VAN GAAL has revealed that Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea will not be included in his squad to face Aston Villa in Friday night’s Premier League clash at Villa Park.

“He won’t play. It is the same situation. He is out of the squad. I said that already”, the Dutchman told reporters earlier today.

The Spaniard, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid ever since the close of last season, was in the stands for United’s first game of the campaign against Tottenham last week with new recruit Sergio Romero making his debut.

Van Gaal has revealed de Gea could still play for the club again but only after the current transfer window closes on September 1st.

At today’s press conference, the United manager also shed some light on rumours linking his players with moves elsewhere.

“Javier Hernandez is second striker to Wayne Rooney. He knows that. While Adnan Januzaj is doing his utmost best. All the players are. I have no complaints.”

When quizzed on the possibility of bringing more players to Old Trafford, van Gaal was cagey.

“Our aim is always to improve the squad and when it is possible we shall do it. I have said more than once that we only buy when we think a player can make a contribution to our squad.”
