'Happy to have played out my dreams here' - Denis Hurley announces Munster departure

The Cork native has said that “a new challenge awaits.”

DENIS HURLEY HAS called time on his playing days at Munster.

The 31-year-old back took to Instagram last night to share the news, alongside a photo of himself and his daughter in Thomond Park.

Born in Cork, Hurley made his debut with the provincial side in 2006 and featured in their Heineken Cup winning team of 2008. He made 166 appearances in total for the province.

Hurley hadn’t lined out for Munster since January due to a calf muscle injury.

“One last walk out,” Hurley wrote. “All the memories this pitch has given us over the years and it culminated in a quiet moment for us to savour as a family.”

“Happy to have played out my dreams here but now a new challenge awaits and we’re excited about what may lie ahead.

“Thanks for all the support over the years.”
