FORMER MUNSTER BACKS coach Simon Mannix had made another addition to his Pau side, with the capture of Scottish prop Euan Murray.

Murray, who announced his retirement from international rugby last month, will leave Pro 12 Champions Glasgow Warriors to sign for the French Pro D2 champions.

The former British and Irish Lion became Scotland’s most capped prop ever this year has had previous stints at Worcester, Newcastle Falcons, Northampton and another French side, Agen in 2012.

Murray – who doesn’t play on Sundays for religious reasons – is the latest high profile international to sign for Mannix’s sode, while All-Blacks Conrad Smith and Colin Slade due to join after the World Cup, with Clermont’s Julien Pierre and Fijian winger Mosese Ratuvou also set to arrive.

Murray said that returning to the club where he began his career this season had been a rewarding experience, capped off by winning the club’s first Pro12 title.

”It’s been an absolute pleasure to play for Glasgow Warriors this past season and over the years. Returning to the club and the city, after almost seven years away, it’s incredible to see how much the Warriors have developed both on and off the field. There’s a special culture that exists at Scotstoun and I’m honoured to have been a part of the title-winning squad this season.”

“I would like to thank everyone at Glasgow Warriors who have helped with my development and career, and I wish them all the very best in the future.”

Former Munster number number 8 James Coughlan also plays for the French side, with another Munster player, Sean Dougall set to join this summer.
