Walters named in Ireland's team to face Sweden at Euro 2016

The starting line-up as been announced ahead of kick-off.

JON WALTERS HAS been passed fit to start in Ireland’s opening Euro 2016 fixture.

The influential 32-year-old has recovered from tendonitis in time to line out for the Boys in Green in their Group E opener at the Stade de France (5pm Irish time).

Elsewhere Aston Villa’s Ciaran Clark gets the nod alongside captain John O’Shea, while Seamus Coleman and Robbie Brady occupy the full-back positions.

Glenn Whelan and James McCarthy will anchor the midfield, with Walters, Jeff Hendrick and Wes Hoolahan in an attacking trio behind lone striker Shane Long.

Ireland XI to face Sweden: Randolph; Coleman, O’Shea (c), Clark, Brady; Whelan, McCarthy; Walters, Hoolahan,Hendrick; Long.
