IT’S FAIR TO say that Louis van Gaal is unhappy with Sam Allardyce’s comments that Manchester United resorted to “thump it forward and see” tactics to salvage a point against West Ham at Upton Park on Sunday.
And in his press conference this afternoon he has produced a four page dossier on exactly why his side are not a long ball, hit and hope team.
Now, whatever the rights and wrongs of LVG’s argument – lies, damn lies and statistics – we can’t help but be reminded of Rafa Benitez’s amazing ‘facts’ rant against former United boss Alex Ferguson.
As Benitez ultimately proved, if you’re explaining, you’re losing.
