AIDEN MCGEADY HAS been handed Everton’s number seven jersey following Nikica Jelavic’s move to Hull City.
The Croatian completed his move to the KC Stadium for an undisclosed fee this afternoon, signing a three-and-a-half year deal.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is already in the market for a replacement striker but it is McGeady, who signed from Spartak Moscow last weekend, who will take Jelavic’s number.
Seven is often seen as a prized jersey thanks to its association with some of the game’s most iconic names including George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul.
Fortunately for McGeady, Everton’s recent history won’t add too much pressure. Andy van der Meyde and Diniyar Bilyaledtinov, two transfer flops, both wore the number before Jelavic.
