THE PROSECUTION IN the Barry Bonds trial called the slugger’s orthopedic surgeon to testify yesterday, only to watch him contradict the testimony of another key prosecution witnesses.
Bonds’ former business partner Steve Hoskins had testified earlier in the trial that he had spoken directly to Dr Arthur Ting about the player’s performance enhancing drug use, and that Ting told him Bonds’ elbow injury was the result of steroid use.
Yet, when asked about it, Ting said those conversations never happened.
Even worse, Ting testified that he prescribed legal steroids to Bonds and that those drugs could have caused many of the side effects that other witnesses have attributed to steroid use (like acne and sexual dysfunction.)
