Brian Gavin will referee the All-Ireland hurling final replay

The Offaly referee will take charge of his third final on September 27.

THE GAA HAVE confirmed that Offaly’s Brian Gavin will take charge of the All-Ireland SHC final replay between Tipperary and Kilkenny on September 27.

Gavin has previously whistled two senior finals: the 2011 game between Kilkenny and Tipperary, and last year’s draw between Clare and Cork.

He refereed the Munster hurling final earlier this year between Cork and Limerick, while also taking charge of Cork’s Munster quarter-final draw with Waterford, and Tipperary’s win over Dublin in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

James Owens (Wexford) has been named as the standby referee with James McGrath (Westmeath) as the other linesman and the sideline official will be Alan Kelly (Galway).
