Cesc Fabregas involved in a training-ground bust-up the day before Mourinho sacking

An academy player took exception to a challenge from the Spanish midfielder.

CESC FABREGAS WAS at the centre of a training-ground row the day before Jose Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea manager.

According to Matt Hughes in The Times, the incident was sparked when the Spaniard made a challenge during a game involving the first-team squad and academy players on Wednesday morning.

The tackled player retaliated and a dust-up ensued, involving a number of notable Chelsea stars.

It’s a common occurrence for the occasional incident to crop up in training, especially at Chelsea where Mourinho is known to try and replicate in-game conditions during sessions.

But, given the crisis the club has found itself in over the last few weeks, it’s just another sign of the tension and strained atmosphere that’s engulfed the reigning Premier League champions and led to Mourinho’s dismissal.
