Davy Fitz steers Clare to third successive Waterford Crystal Cup final with win over UCC

The Banner were far too strong for the students in Sixmilebridge today.

Clare 2-28
UCC 1-4

CLARE CRUISED INTO a third successive Waterford Crystal Cup final this afternoon with a landslide win over UCC at Sixmilebridge.

Davy Fitzgerald’s side were far too strong for their third-level opponents as they claimed a 27-point victory in their semi-final clash.

Colin Ryan, who hit 1-13 overall, and Davy O’Halloran struck the goals for the winners. Clare lead 1-10 to 1-2 at half-time and cruised to victory in the second-half. Shane O’Donnell was interestingly in action against Clare as he came on as a substitute for UCC.

Clare advance to the decider where they will meet Tipperary or UL after their semi-final tie was postponed today due to an unplayable pitch at McDonagh Park in Nenagh.

UCC’s focus switches to the Fitzgibbon Cup as they start their campaign this week with a group clash against Waterford IT on Thursday.
