RESULT: Dublin 1-17 Wexford 1-17

Wexford Park is the focus tonight as hurling action takes centre stage. Wexford face Dublin in the quarter-final of the Leinster senior hurling championship. Who will be celebrating – the Dubs or the Model County?

Here’s the Dublin team that is named to start tonight.

DUBLIN: Gary Maguire; Niall Corcoran, Peter Kelly, Paul Schutte; Michael Carton, Liam Rushe, Shane Durkin; John McCaffrey (captain), Joseph Boland; Conor McCormack, Ryan O’Dwyer, Danny Sutcliffe; David O’Callaghan, Conal Keaney, David Treacy.

And here’s the Wexford team that is selected to start.

WEXFORD: Niall Breen; Bobby Kenny, Andrew Shore, Ciaran Kenny; Eoin Moore, Richie Kehoe, Eanna Martin; Harry Kehoe, Lee Chin; Jack Guiney, Garrett Sinnott (Capt), David Redmond; Paul Morris, Rory Jacob, Gary Moore.

Cork’s Diarmuid Kirwan is the referee for tonight’s encounter.

There is speculation of pre-match changes on both sides. We’ll let you know of any alterations as soon as we get them.

Dublin have already defeated Wexford twice in competitive action this year. In February they were crowned Walsh Cup champions in Enniscorthy with a 1-19 to 0-16 victory. And when the teams met in March in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League, Dublin ran out comfortable winners by 3-19 to 0-15 in Wexford Park.

It’s a glorious evening for hurling in Wexford Park with warm sunshine in the south-east venue.

Wexford manager Liam Dunne is in charge for his second season in the Model County. His first season in charge saw Wexford lose their opening championship game in Leinster to Offaly. Subsequent defeats of Westmeath and Carlow were followed by a championship exit at the hands of Cork in the qualifiers.

Dublin boss Anthony Daly is at the reins for a fifth successive year. He’ll be eager for a good championship in 2013 after some big setbacks last year when they lost out to Kilkenny in the Leinster championship and to Clare in the All-Ireland qualifiers.

Six changes have been announced for the Wexford team from the one selected during the week.

Here’s the update line-up.

WEXFORD: Mark Fanning (Glynn-Barntown); Eoin Moore (Oulart-the-Ballagh), Tomas Waters (St Martin’s), Keith Rossiter (Oulart-the-Ballagh); Richie Kehoe (Faythe Harriers), Andrew Shore (Parnells – Dublin), Ciaran Kenny (Buffers Alley); Harry Kehoe (Cloughbawn), Ciaran O’Shaughnessy (Shelmaliers); David Redmond (Oulart-the-Ballagh), Eoin Quigley (Sarsfields – Cork), Gareth Sinnott (Oulart-the-Ballagh); Jack Guiney (Rathnure), Padge Doran (Oylegate-Glenbrien), Rory Jacob (Oulart-the-Ballagh)

Dublin will line out as selected during the week. From the team which lost out to Tipperary in the Allianz League semi-final, Alan Nolan steps out of goal with Gary Maguire returning.

At corner-back, Niall Corcoran gets the nod ahead of Ruairi Trainor while Ryan O’Dwyer takes up the centre-forward slot and Simon Lambert drops out of the starting XV.

Kevin Byrne is absent due to a broken finger and the injured Sean McGrath won’t play any part either.

We’re all set for the start of the action.

Wexford 0-1 Dublin 0-0: 1 mins – Great start for Wexford as Rory Jacob points after just 15 seconds of the action.

Interesting Dublin positional change as Conal Keaney has reverted to centre-back.

Ryan O’Dwyer has been forced off the Dublin team momentarily with a blood injury.

Dublin 0-3 Wexford 0-1: 6 mins – Wing back Michael Carton launches over a huge point from distance to stretch Dublin’s lead.

Niall McMorrow has come on as a blood sub for Dublin instead of O’Dwyer.

Dublin 0-4 Wexford 0-1: 9 mins – Conor McCormack does excellently to win primary possession and pop over a point off his left. Dublin on top in the early stages.

Dublin 0-5 Wexford 0-1: 11 mins – Boland again on target from a free for Dublin.

Dublin 0-6 Wexford 0-1: 11 mins – Excellent well worked point by Dublin from Danny Sutcfliffe. It is a score that is indicative of the dominance they are exerting.

Ryan O’Dwyer back on the Dublin team for Niall McMorrow.

Dublin 0-6 Wexford 0-2: 13 mins – Better from Wexford as Jack Guiney points after Garreth Sinnott offloaded the ball to him.

Dublin 0-6 Wexford 0-3: 16 mins – Dublin can feel aggrieved at the concession of that free but Jack Guiney capitalized for Wexford as he grabbed a point.

Dublin 0-6 Wexford 0-4: 17 mins – Now the gap is down to two points as Rory Jacob does well to bring down the ball and points from a tight angle for Wexford. The home crowd are in a more optimistic mood now in Wexford Park.

Padge Doran’s effort to cut the gap to the minimum for Wexford is foiled as his shot goes wide.

Dublin 0-7 Wexford 0-5: 20 mins – Shane Durkin for Dublin from play and Jack Guiney for Wexford from a free both trade points.

This match is developing into a far better contest now as Wexford start to compete with greater intensity.

Dublin 0-8 Wexford 0-5: 23 mins – Joey Boland has been flawless so far for Dublin as he converts another free.

John McCaffrey has an opportunity to stretch Dublin’s lead but his shot goes wide from the left wing.

Dublin 0-9 Wexford 0-6: 27 mins – Boland on the mark for Dublin with a close-range free but that is immediately cancelled out by Wexford captain Garreth Sinnott who stylishly points from play.

Dublin 0-9 Wexford 0-7: 27 mins – Now the gap is cut to two points with Padge Doran, a debutant for Wexford, firing over from play.

Change on the Wexford team as dual star Lee Chin – who plays for the county football side in the Leinster championship against Louth tomorrow – comes on for Ciaran O’Shaughnessy at midfield.

Dublin 0-10 Wexford 0-7: 28 mins – Dublin go three points clear again with Danny Sutcliffe raising his second white flag of the evening.

Dublin 0-10 Wexford 0-8: 29 mins – We’re back to a two-point game once more as Jack Guiney converts a free for Wexford after Peter Kelly pushed Padge Doran in the back.

Goal for Wexford!

Wexford 1-8 Dublin 0-10: 31 mins – Wexford hit the front courtesy of a Jack Guiney goal.

The shot was a superb strike to the roof of the net off his left by Guiney but the goal was a product of brilliant work by half-forward Eoin Quigley. The Sarsfields club man cut through the Dublin rearguard and drew the defenders before offloading to Guiney close to goal. He finished clinically past Dublin goalkeeper Gary Maguire.

Dublin wides from Niall McMorrow, back on again after Ryan O’Dwyer went off with another blood injury, and Boland.

And there’s another wide, a bad effort from close range by David O’Callaghan for Dublin.

Wexford 1-8 Dublin 0-11: 35 mins – The teams are level courtesy of a pointed free for Dublin by Joey Boland.

Dublin 0-12 Wexford 1-8: 36 mins – Great point by Danny Sutcliffe edges Dublin ahead.

HALF-TIME: Dublin 0-12 Wexford 1-8: It’s Dublin who lead narrowly at the break in the Leinster senior hurling championship quarter-final.

Dublin narrowly ahead at the interval but Wexford have fought back admirably after a poor start to the game. Joey Boland and Danny Sutcliffe have shone in the scoring stakes for Dublin with Wexford’s Jack Guiney grabbing the only goal of the game.

Here are the scorers so far in this game.

Dublin: Joey Boland 0-6 (0-6f), Danny Sutcliffe 0-3, Shane Durkin, Michael Carton, Conor McCormack 0-1 each.

There’s approximately 7,000 people gathered in Wexford Park for tonight’s match as the start of the second-half draws near.

And the second-half is underway.

Early mistakes on both sides as the play has been ragged in the opening stages.

Wexford 1-9 Dublin 0-12: 37 mins – First score of the second-half by Wexford midfielder Harry Kehoe and it’s a beauty from long range by the Cloughbawn club man.

Yellow card for Wexford’s Tomas Waters for a rash challenge on Dublin’s Conor McCormack.

Dublin 0-13 Wexford 1-9: 42 mins – Dublin back ahead through a Joey Boland pointed free.

Great dispossession by Waters there as Conor McCormack beared down on goal. That chance for Dublin arose from a poor puck out by Wexford debutant Mark Fanning.

Dublin 0-14 Wexford 1-9: 43 mins – Fine point by Joey Boland as Dublin go two points clear.

Naomh Fionbarra club man Eamonn Dillon replaces David Treacy in the Dublin attack.

Rory Jacob taps over a point for Wexford after a beautiful pick up but referee Diarmuid Kirwan had previously blown for a foul on Jacob by Dublin’s Peter Kelly.

Dublin 0-14 Wexford 1-10: 45 mins – Wexford still get a point from the move as Guiney snaps over a free.

Ballyboden St Enda’s player Paul Ryan is on for Dublin as David O’Callaghan makes way.

Great chance for Wexford to equalize but Eoin Quigley hits a bad wide from 20 yards out.

Paul Morris set to come in to the Wexford team.

Dublin 0-15 Wexford 1-12: 52 mins – The teams are level after Rory Jacob points for Wexford after great work by Jack Guiney to create the chance.

Paul Morris is on for Wexford with Eoin Quigley going off.

Wexford 1-13 Dublin 0-15: 55 mins – Now Wexford are gone ahead as Jack Guiney points from play to bring his personal tally to 1-7 for the day.

Simon Lambert replaces Shane Durkin in the Dublin team.

Wexford 1-14 Dublin 0-15: 56 mins – Garreth Sinnott lobs over a point for Wexford to send them two points clear.

Joey Boland misses a free for Dublin from a tight angle. Dublin are struggling here.

Ruairi Trainor on for Dublin instead of Paul Schutte in defence. Another wide from Dublin, this time from Joey Boland from play.

Goal chance for Wexford as Lee Chin produces a terrific run through the Dublin defence but he rifles a shot in that is brilliantly blocked by goalkeeper Gary Maguire.

Boland wide for Dublin again. That’s their 11th shot off target this evening.

Bad wide for Wexford from Lee Chin as he takes the wrong option and snatches at a chance.

Eight minutes left here and the game is in the melting pot as Wexford lead by two points.

Another Dublin scoring chance is spurned as Simon Lambert strikes his shot wide.

It’s 15 minutes since Dublin last troubled the scoreboard operator.

Conor McCormack is replaced on the Dublin team by Mark Schutte. That’s their last substitution permitted on the night.

Wexford 1-15 Dublin 0-15: 65 mins – The scoring impasse is broken and it’s captain Garreth Sinnott that provides the inspiration for Wexford as he fires over his third point of the game.

Wexford 1-15 Dublin 0-16: 66 mins – Finally Dublin raise a white flag and it’s their outstanding wing-back Michael Carton who splits the posts from distance.

Goal for Dublin!

Dublin 1-16 Wexford 1-15: 67 mins – Eamonn Dillon fires to the net for Dublin as they move ahead by a point. Dramatic stuff in Wexford Park.

Dublin 1-16 Wexford 1-16: 67 mins – The teams are level again after Wexford point through Garreth Sinnott.

Credit due to Mark Schutte for that Dublin goal as he gathered the ball, made headway and hand passed to Dillon who whipped the ball to the net.

Pulsating stuff as this game nears the final whistle.

Long-range effort by Johnny McCaffrey goes astray for Dublin’s 14th wide of the game. One minute of normal time left.

Dublin 1-17 Wexford 1-16: 70 mins – Paul Ryan fires over a point that could be the winner for Dublin.

But Wexford have a free after Gary Moore, just into the game as a substitute for Padge Doran, is fouled.

Dublin 1-17 Wexford 1-17: 71 mins – And Jack Guiney holds his nerve to point the free and tie the teams.

FULL-TIME: Wexford 1-17 Dublin 1-17: And that’s how it all finishes with the teams ending up level and they will have to replay this encounter.

Great stuff by Jack Guiney to pop over that free for Wexford and ensure the teams will contest a replay next weekend.

That’s all from us this evening, thanks for joining us.
