Templeogue, Moorefield and Kilcoo amongst the winners in tonight's club GAA action

It was a big night of action in Cavan, Down, Dublin, Kildare and Laois.

TEMPLEOGUE SYNGE-ST moved into the quarter-finals of the Dublin senior football championship tonight. They ran out 2-9 to 0-14 winners over Na Fianna at Parnell Park after being in front by 2-5 to 0-6 at the break.

On Wednesday night there were wins in the second round for St Vincent’s, St Judes and Lucan Sarsfields. Four more second round games in the Dublin SFC are down for decision tomorrow afternoon.

In Cavan, last year’s finalists Cavan Gaels made no mistake at the second time of asking against Lacken in their quarter-final replay. Cavan Gaels, who won the title eight times in 11 years between 2001 and 2011, ran out comfortable winners by 5-9 to 0-6.

In Down, reigning champions Kilcoo had to work hard before seeing off Mayobridge in Páirc Esler by 2-12 to 3-5. Kilcoo are aiming for a third successive county senior crown this year and will now face Longstone or Burren in the decider.

Reigning Kildare champions Moorefield saw off the challenge of Johnstownbridge by four points with a 1-11 to 0-10 success. 2008 champions Celbridge also reached the last four after they defeated Carbury by three points as they triumphed 0-14 to 0-11.

In Laois, O’Dempsey’s went goal crazy as they put five past Mountmellick in O’Moore Park en route to a 16-point victory – 5-13 to 0-12.
