Horan appointed as Limerick manager

Former Mayo and Limerick player takes charge in the Treaty City after managing under 21s last season.

THE LIMERICK COUNTY board have confirmed the appointment of Maurice Horan as the new Limerick senior football manager after a meeting last night.

Horan managed the Limerick under 21 footballers this year and was also a selector for Mickey Ned O’Sullivan’s senior team this season. He will team up with trainer Ephie Fitzgerald- who managed Nemo Rangers to two Munster titles and four Cork titles between 2005 and 2008.

The Ballinrobe native was linked with the vacant post at his native Mayo, but opted to take charge of Limerick. Horan played for both Mayo and Limerick after work brought him to Limerick.

The Na Piarsaigh man will combine his role as manager of the senior team with his continuing role as manager of the under 21 team.
