Hulk Hogan apologises for racist remark, begs forgiveness

The legendary wrestler has been sacked by the WWE.

Updated at 6pm.

HULK HOGAN SENT what appeared to be a rather cryptic tweet Thursday night but it soon became clear what one of professional wrestling’s biggest names may have been talking about.

As of this moment, there’s virtually no mention of Hogan — whose real name is Terry Bollea — anywhere on the the WWE website, even in the alumni or Hall of Fame section.

While a general search of his name still yields highlights from his WWE career, you can no longer buy Hulk Hogan merchandise.

The organisation refuse to be drawn on a reason for Hogan’s sacking but today confirmed it had terminated its contract with Hogan.

This evening, Hogan issued a statement admitting he had made a racist comment in relation to his daughter’s private life and begging for forgiveness.

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.”

“This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise,” Hogan told People.

“I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.”
