IAN BARACLOUGH HAS added another gong to his unforgettable first season in Irish football by winning Philips Sports Manager of the Month.
Baraclough was named as October’s winner after his Sligo Rovers side clinched the Airtricity League Premier Division, the club’s first league title since 1977.
The 41-year-old was seen by many as a left-field replacement when he was brought in to replace Paul Cook on the eve of the 2012 season.
Baraclough’s only prior experience was a short spell as Scunthorpe United manager in the Championship, but under him, the Bit O’Red quickly emerged as league front-runners and carried on their good form to finish four points clear of Drogheda United in second.
