HEALTH AUTHORITIES ARE warning those travelling from the European Union to the World Cup in Brazil of certain health risks.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has said that fans need to pay attention to a number of factors that could see bad things happening to them โ either becoming poorly in a foreign country or having an unwelcome biological guest come home with them to Europe.
The watchdog is warning that visitors from the EU are at risk of gastrointestinal illness and vector-borne infections (for example those transmitted by insect bits).
To combat this, visitors need to adhere to โstandard hygienic measuresโ, and wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers to ensure exposed limbs are not exposed as a tasty treat to dangerous insects.
Insect repellent could also be used in addition to this.
โ[Visitors] are also urged to take malaria chemoprophylaxis and be vaccinated against yellow fever, if travelling to risk areas,โ a statement from the ECDC read. โBe fully vaccinated according to their home immunisation schedule and those advised by health authorities in Brazil, in particular hepatitis A.โ
And finally, if you happen to be so lucky, the authority is warning for people to avoid having unprotected sexual contact.
More than 600,000 people are expected to arrive for the World Cup, joining an estimated 3.1 million Brazilian tourists descending on the 12 host cities.
Itโs amazing thatโs heโs OK so quickly. Still would rather he took another few weeks off.
@chris mcdonnell: agreed, 5 months is on the very short side of recovery for ACL. i hope they are not rushing him back.
@chris mcdonnell: I agree but he must have been very lucky as in clean injury smooth operation and his body responded really well post op. Letโs not look a gift horse in the mouth.
@Niall English: did he suffer a rupture or a tear (as in the ligament was still connected but damaged)? If itโs a tear, the recovery can be quicker
@chris mcdonnell: Why would he need another few weeks off? If he is fit, he is fit. It certainly didnโt look like he was coming back early. He is just a very quick healer and his medical team would have had to sign off on his return anyway.
Hope Lukeโs injury is not serious and I hope he
Hopefully will start
Probably need him back on the bench. Furlong already a huge blow, still a huge player for Leinster and Ireland. Leinster can manage without him with Slimani, but Ireland not so much. Would much rather Jager than Bealham and Clarkson if I am being honest. Canโt understand the selection calls there.
@Eoin H: Bealham is far better than Jager and is proven in big games
@anthony davoren: Bealham hasnโt been great this season. Still a big drop off at TH
@Eoin H: after Furlong Jager should be next and then Clarkson.
@anthony davoren: isnโt Jaeger just coming back from injury?
@Marcus: yeah heโs missed a bit of time for munster. still doesnt look fit. heโs gassed after 45/50 minutes. just needs a clean bill of health for a few months.
@Marcus: heโs way off the pace for 6N atm
@adizlack93: When Bralham returns to the Ireland fold, he will pick up another level or 2. He always does.
@Oran Burns: I havenโt seen anything from Jรคger in the loose to suggest he deserves a call up. He might get away with itnin the URC, but international props also need to be able to carry, pass & tackle. Bealham has proven himself in this regard.
