CORK’S JULIA WHITE and Clare’s Niamh O’Dea made history at the weekend by winning the O’Connor Cup with UL after recently winning the Ashbourne Cup.
The pair became the first players to do the colleges double in the same year with both triumphs arriving at Queen’s University in Belfast.
O’Dea scored 0-4 in Saturday’s final success with White grabbing a goal. Remarkably White only took up Gaelic football last year and is better known as a camogie player, being back in action for Cork on Sunday in the Division 1 camogie league when she found the net in the game against Offaly.
‘I don’t know how to play football…I just run up and down’, was White’s description of her own football playing ability.
