Kerry All-Ireland winners and last 8 in Dublin dominate the weekend's Gaelic football club action

It’s a huge weekend of club Gaelic football games around the country.

IT’S THE FIRST weekend in October and the focus is firmly on club action in Gaelic football.

It’s back to the club stage for Kerry’s All-Ireland senior winners with the senior championship quarter-finals down for decision. Tomorrow Shane Enright lines out for Shannon Rangers against a South Kerry team that will include Bryan Sheehan, Declan O’Sullivan and Killian Young.

That’s followed in Tralee by the meeting of Dingle – the club of Paul and Michael Geaney – and Killarney Legion, who can call upon James O’Donoghue, Brian Kelly and Jonathan Lyne.

On Sunday, Darran O’Sullivan, Pa Kilkenny and Donnchadh Walsh will feature for Mid Kerry against Peter Crowley’s Laune Rangers. That’s followed by Kieran Donaghy’s Austin Stacks in action against West Kerry.

It’s also a big weekend in the Dublin senior football championship. Tomorrow’s quarter-finals see Ballymun Kickhams face St Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh while reigning All-Ireland champions St Vincent’s take on Templeogue Synge-Street.

Philly McMahon, Dean Rock, James McCarthy, Bernard Brogan, Alan Brogan, Mossy Quinn, Diarmuid Connolly and Eoghan O’Gara are some of the players in action.
