McGeeney to sit down with Second Captains lads tonight

The ex-Kildare manager will be on RTE Two tonight.

KIERAN MCGEENEY WILL break his silence since his controversial removal as Kildare senior football manager tonight with an interview on RTE’s ‘Second Captains Live’ show.

The Armagh native saw his tenure come to an end with the Lilywhites when he lost a ballot by county delegates by one vote — 29 to 28 — at a county board executive meeting in Newbridge earlier this month.

McGeeney had been in charge for six seasons and also oversaw the fortunes of the county U21 side this year.

Kildare players subsequently came out strongly in support of McGeeney and released a statement calling for him to be reinstated as Lilywhites boss.

They were extremely critical of the county board in that statement and believed that McGeeney had been treated with ‘a lack of respect and loyalty’.

McGeeney’s views are now set to be heard on tonight’s show which takes place at 11pm on RTE 2.
