REIGNING KILKENNY SENIOR hurling champions Clara will face city outfit Dicksboro at the quarter-final stage of this year’s championship.

Elsewhere 2015 All-Ireland club champions Ballyhale Shamrocks will take on Bennettsbridge or Mullinavat in their last eight tie.

Ballyhale are managed by Colm Bonnar, recently confirmed as the Carlow senior hurling boss, and Andy Moloney, while they warmed up for their quarter-final tie by triumphing in the senior hurling league final last Sunday against St Martin’s.

There will be an all-city clash between rivals O’Loughlin Gaels and James Stephens while the remaining quarter-final will see St Martin’s take on Danesfort or Rower-Inistioge.

The quarter-final draw was made last night in Nowlan Park with the ties set to take place in Kilkenny on the weekend of 8-9 October.

Two first round games have to be replayed next Saturday afternoon in Ballyhale after draws last weekend. Bennettsbridge face Mullinavat at 1.30pm while Danesfort meet Rower-Inistioge at 3.15pm.

The game between Danesfort, who include Richie Hogan and Paul Murphy in their ranks, and Rower-Inistioge doubles up as a relegation semi-final with the losers facing Fenians in a battle to avoid the drop to the intermediate ranks.

The draw in full is:

Kilkenny senior hurling quarter-finals

Dicksboro v Clara
St Martin’s v Danesfort/Rower-Inistioge
O’Loughlin Gaels v James Stephens
Ballyhale Shamrocks v Bennettsbridge/Mullinavat
