Richie Hogan's goal helps Danesfort topple Tullaroan in Kilkenny SHC

While St Martin’s got the better of Dicksboro.

A RICHIE HOGAN goal seven minutes from the break helped Danesfort secure a Kilkenny SHC quarter-final with Ballyhale Shamrocks next weekend.

The five time All-Ireland winner with the Cats scored the only goal of their first round replay after the two sides could not be separated last weekend.

The maximum gave the 2007 All-Ireland JHC champions a 1-7 to 0-9 half-time lead and, with scores at a premium for both sides after the break, it was Danesfort who held on for the win at John Locke Park.

In today’s other Kilkenny SHC encounter, St Martin’s beat Dicksboro in a high-scoring quarter-final.

Colin McGrath’s 1-1 in a two minute spell proved crucial  for Martin’s who trailed by three points at the break, 1-9 to 1-6.

However, despite a late goal from Dicksboro, Martin’s made the most of a second half breeze to record a three point win.

Yesterday’s action in Kilkenny saw Keith Hogan’s Clara get the better of brother Brian’s O’Loughlin Gaels in the quarter-finals while Carrickshock and Rower Inistioge will have to do it all again to see who books a spot in the final four.

Kilkenny SHC results

First round replay:
Danesfort 1-13 Tullaroan 0-11
Quarter finals:
Clara 2-14 O’Loughlin Gaels 2-12
Rower-Inistioge 0-12 Carrickshock 0-12
St Martin’s 2-16 Dicksboro 2-13
