IN 14 PREVIOUS appearances in the All-Ireland final, Kilkenny have only been beaten four times in the hurling decider.
With that in mind, RTÉ Sunday Game team have christened Kilkenny in an All-Ireland final as “The Ultimate Test” for any aspiring champions, and as they usually do, they’ve used it to create a cracking promo video.
Seanie McMahon, Sean Óg Ó hAlpín, Ollie Moran, John Mullane, Eoin Kelly and Damien Hayes have all tasted September defeat to the Cats down the years, and speak to the cameras about the enormity of the challenge facing Galway today.
Of the six, Ó hAlpín and Kelly did go on to topple Kilkenny the following year, but it perfectly sums up the aura surrounding the September specialists.
