MOHAMED SALAH IS expected to complete his long-awaited transfer from Roma to Liverpool by Thursday as he travels to undergo a medical in England.
As reported on Monday, the Reds were tying up negotiations with their Serie A counterparts over a deal in excess of £35 million inclusive of add-ons for the 25-year-old.
An agreement has now been reached with the extras, which could ultimately reach £39m, having the potential to make the package the club’s highest outlay on a player.
It would surpass the £35m purchase of Andy Carroll in January 2011.
The Egypt international departed Cairo on Tuesday and preparations are in place for his physical assessment to be carried out on Merseyside as soon as it is feasible.
