Lotus to Grosjean: Try not to crash so often

F1 team have told their French driver to forget all about his seven first lap crashes.

LOTUS HAVE TOLD Romain Grosjean to move on from his recent troubles and focus on the final four races of the season.

Grosjean has endured a mixed campaign with podium finishes in Bahrain, Canada and Hungary overshadowed by seven first-lap crashes.

The Frenchman was suspended for one race following an incident at the first turn in Belgium and labelled a ‘first-lap nutcase’ by Red Bull’s Mark Webber after a collision in Japan earlier this month.

But Grosjean came through the Korean Grand Prix unscathed in seventh and remains eighth in the drivers’ championship on 88 points.

“It’s definitely time for us to draw the line and move on, but more importantly it’s also time for Romain to put it in the past for himself,” team principal Eric Boullier said ahead of the Indian Grand Prix.

“Despite a lot of pressure, he drove a good, clean race in Korea and I fully believe he now understands what he needs to do to avoid these things in the future.

“Romain’s target for the rest of the season is clear; to build on the platform he created in the last race and help the team push for maximum points in the last four races.

“I think he is learning from these experiences and it will only make him a stronger driver.”
