Marty and Donal Óg's commentary perfectly captures the drama of today's All-Ireland hurling final

The RTÉ commentary pair could barely believe their eyes earlier. They weren’t the only ones.

WE WITNESSED A truly classic All-Ireland hurling final this afternoon and, as Marty Morrissey put it: “We have to do it again, thank God!”

Listen to the RTÉ commentator and Donal Óg Cusack describe the drama as it unfolds in front of their eyes — From Bubbles O’Dwyer’s equalising point to the Tipp free and the call for Hawkeye.

The entertainment that these players gave to everybody in the stadium today and I can imagine the hundreds of thousands watching,”says Cusack at the final whistle. “Every year the standard seems to be raising. Huge credit due to everybody involved.

“It was an absolutely outstanding contest and the skill exhibited out there today was second to no other sport in the world. We’re at a stage now, why should we compare ourselves to any other sport in the world?

“We’ve got the greatest game on the planet here in this country.”

Brilliant stuff.
