McCaw to set record for captaining All Blacks

No fewer than four records up for grabs as NZ face off against Aussies for Bledisloe Cup.

NEW ZEALAND FLANKER Richie McCaw is to set the record for the most-capped captain of the national side when he leads the All Blacks out this Saturday against Australia.

The Bledisloe Cup clash will be McCaw’s fifty-second match as captain, moving him past the legendary Sean Fitzpatrick as the most capped captain in New Zealand Test history.

“Richie is an outstanding leader and, in my opinion, one of the best players in world rugby and he also is an exemplary ambassador off the field, so we are very fortunate to have him out in front of this team every week” All Blacks coach Graham Henry said of his captain.

More records could be set on Saturday, as if New Zealand score more than eighteen points they will beat their own record of 179 points in a single Tri-Nations season- set in 2006.

A win for the All Blacks would set another two records- ten consecutive wins over Australia and the first team to win all six Tri Nations matches in a season.
