Another Ireland blow as Cian Healy cited for 'stamp'

IRELAND PROP CIAN Healy could face suspension after he was cited for an alleged stamp in the Six Nations defeat to England.

Healy was at the centre of flare-up early in the first half yesterday when he took exception to an English player not rolling away and put his boot into a ruck.

Although match referee Jerome Garces spoke to players from both sides at the time, he took no action, but as expected Healy has been cited today under Law 10.4 (b) by independent match commissioner Alberto Recaldini of Italy.

Law 10.4 (b) states “A player must not stamp or trample on an opponent.” Healy will appear before an independent disciplinary hearing in London on Wednesday to answer the charge.

England U20 back row Ross Moriarty will also appear before a disciplinary committee after he was sent off for this tackle during the defeat to Ireland in Athlone last Friday.
