Boxing judges re-score Pacquiao v Horn fight - but still get the same result

Review panel finds Horn won seven rounds to Pacquiao’s five.

FIVE BOXING JUDGES re-scored Jeff Horn’s controversial world title win against Manny Pacquiao – and agreed that the Australian did in fact win the fight.

Horn scored a shock win in Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium earlier this month, beating Pacquiao on a unanimous points decision: 117-111, 115-113, 115-113.

An aggrieved Pacquiao asked the WBO to review the result but after re-watching the fight tape with no sound, the panel of independent, anonymous judges found that Horn won seven rounds of the welterweight championship bout to Pacquiao’s five — the equivalent of a 115-113 card.

“The Jeff Horn vs. Manny Pacquiao bout results were controversial causing disputes amongst fans,” the WBO said. “For this reason, transparency is so important.

“The WBO does not have power to reverse the judges’ decision based on discretion as it can only be revoked when fraud or a violation of law has occurred, which is not relevant in this case.”
