HE WAS KNOWN to Irish sports fan as the AFL agent intent on headhunting some of Gaelic football’s brightest young talents.
But Ricky Nixon has fallen a long way since he jetted into Ireland to attend Sigerson Cup games and hold training camps throughout the country.
Nixon was forced to step down as head of his agency — Flying Start — which represented some of the biggest names in Aussie Rules after a series of personal dramas.
An ‘inappropriate personal relationship’ with a 17-year-old who was at the centre of the St Kilda sex scandal, a two-year professional ban and a visit to a rehabilitation clinic ultimately cost him his marriage and almost his business.
Now Nixon is planning on staging a one-man show at next month’s Melbourne Comedy Festival, in which he’ll talk about the crazy sequence of events that was front and back page news in both Australia and Ireland two years ago.
“Discussions are well advanced about him doing a show during this year’s Comedy Festival and we’re really excited about the prospect,” Comic’s Lounge general manager Grantlee O’Sullivan told Adelaide Now.
