Ringmahon Rangers' FAI Cup ban reduced to three years after appeal

Munster club failed to fulfil second-round fixture against Bohemians earlier this year,

RINGMAHON RANGERS HAVE had their five-year suspension from the FAI Cup reduced as the result of an arbitration hearing.

The amateur Munster outfit will see their ban lifted in three seasons after they decided not to fulfil a second-round clash with Bohemians earlier this season.

Ringmahon cited the unavailability of their own home ground, as well as Cork City’s Turner’s Cross and Cobh Ramblers’ St Colman’s Park for the 19 July clash. With Bohs playing in Europe the date could not be moved.

The Cork side then also referenced the potential for a clash with the All-Ireland Hurling Championship final as one of their concerns. The Rebels, however, did not make it to Croke Park.

While two years have been shaved off their FAI Cup suspension, the three-year ban from participating in the FAI Intermediate Cup has been upheld along with a fine of €5,000.

“The FAI disciplinary process in this matter is now concluded,” a statement from the association read.
