You'll need more than magic! Ronnie brushes past Murphy into Crucible quarter-finals

Five-time champ will play either Liang Wenbo or Ding Junhui in the last eight

RONNIE O’SULLIVAN BEAT Shaun Murphy to book his place in the World Championship quarter-finals, finishing the job with a minimum of fuss in Saturday’s morning session.

The Rocket, bidding for his sixth world title and a first since 2013, led 2005 Crucible champion Murphy 10-6 overnight.

And after both men took a frame apiece to start the session, O’Sullivan fired in a brilliant break of 111 and then followed it up with a 55 to clinch a 13-7 victory.

O’Sullivan will play either Liang Wenbo or Ding Junhui in the last eight. Ding currently leads that clash 9-7.
