SHANE WARD IS the new manager of Leitrim’s senior football team for 2015.
Ward, a native of Ballyshannon in the county, was ratified at a county board meeting last night. He will continue his role as U21 manager, while also succeeding Seán Hagan in the senior position.
After just a year in charge, Hagan chose not to seek an extension to the one-year term he was initially appointed on.
Ward let the county’s U21s to a Connacht final this year, where they were defeated by Roscommon. But their win over reigning All-Ireland champions Galway in the provincial semi-final was a first championship victory at the grade since 1998.
