PEOPLE OFTEN SAY strange things when they’re under pressure.
Interviewed by the Daily Telegraph ahead of the biggest fight of his fledgling career, WBC Welterweight champion Victor Ortiz pulled a previously unknown gem of trivia from right out of leftfield.
He’s a huge Harry Potter fan. To be more specific, he’s a huge Emma Watson fan.
“If you ever meet Hermione [Emma Watson] over there in London, put a word in from me, tell her I’m her biggest fan,” Ortiz told Gareth Davies.
I’ve watched every Harry Potter film, know them all. They rock!
This evening in Las Vegas’s MGM Grand, Ortiz, 24, will take on the man many regard as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world: Floyd Mayweather Jr.
With Mayweather’s unbeaten career record on the line as well as Ortiz’s WBC belt, “Pretty Boy” Floyd returns to the ring for the first time since April 2010 when he scored a unanimous decision over Shane Mosley.
“He’ll underestimate me, and I’ll make him pay,” Ortiz told the Telegraph.
Floyd is a good fighter, but I’ve always thought he wasn’t that great. He’s overrated.
