Super Mario World: 25 reasons why it’s always Balotelli

He’s out the gap, but here’s a few reasons we’ll miss the big messer.

MARIO BALOTELLI IS heading home to Italy tonight to complete a transfer to AC Milan. He packed a lot into his two-and-a-half years in the Premier League.

2. He refused to quit smoking, so his manager said it was okay as long as he scored goals (September 2012)

After previously indicating Mario needed to smoke less, Mancini said: “It’s not my problem. If Mario wants to smoke, it’s his problem. But if he wants my opinion, it is better that he quits. But if he smokes 10 cigarettes a day and scores two goals every game, then that’s better.”

3. He proclaimed that he would ‘kill’ any racists at Euro 2012 (May 2012)

Racism was a big worry going into Euro 2012, but Balotelli had some stern words for racists before the tournament, saying, “I will not accept racism at all. It’s unacceptable. If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to jail, because I will kill them.” Source: The Guardian

5. He got banned for three matches for getting too many red cards, after which Mancini proclaimed he would never play for Man City again (April 2012)

Here’s what the City boss had to say: “I’ve finished my words for him. I’ve finished. I love him as a guy, as a player. I know him. He’s not a bad guy and is a fantastic player. But, at this moment, I’m very sorry for him because he continues to lose his talent, his quality.

I hope, for him, he can understand that he’s in a bad way for his future. And he can change his behavior in the future. But I’m finished. We have six games left and he will not play.”

14. He was substituted for showboating and missing a wide-open goal in LA (July 2011)

Favored Man City were eliminated from the Europa League by Dynamo Kiev last season. During the second leg, Balotelli carelessly flew into a high tackle and caught a Kiev player in the stomach.

City lost 2-1 on aggregate.

20. He had to come out of a game in Kiev because of a spontaneous grass allergy (March 2011)

Balotelli is apparently allergic to some kinds of grass, which is problematic if you’re a footballer. Mancini said at the time: ”I came out a minute before the players and I didn’t see Mario. He then said he could play but his face was swollen.”
