The big leap: GAA announces Facebook presence

In what the association calls ‘the big leap’ the GAA has made a belated move to launch it’s very own official Facebook page.

THE GAA HAS today announced the launch of an official online presence within social networking sites.

In addition to gaa.ie the association has launched its own official Facebook page.

GAA Director of Communications Lisa Clancy said they hoped the move can help unite a widespread diaspora of Irish people who click ‘like’ on the Facebook page.

“Social media now plays an important role for the GAA in engaging with our members and supporters. We are now asking every GAA member, club, player, official, media across the world to “like us” on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.”

Christy Cooney and Dublin footballer Cian O’Sullivan were also present at the launch and the latter helped mark the day by taking part in a question and answer session via Twitter.

The association launched its @officialgaa Twitter page last year, but has now added to its social media status with the elder of the two media.

You can follow the GAA @officialgaa and find them on Facebook here. But you have to click that big important ‘like’ button to find the news.
