Tomás O Sé set to enter Gaelic football management with UCC

The legendary Kerry player will take over the college’s Fresher side for the coming year.

KERRY DEFENSIVE LEGEND Tomás O Sé is set to make a foray into GAA management at third-level with UCC.

It was finalized yesterday that O Sé will be in charge of the UCC Fresher Gaelic football team for the coming 2013-14 season.

The acquisition of the 35 year-old is a coup for UCC with O Sé having claimed five All-Ireland senior football medals with Kerry and having won five Allstar awards during his career.

O Sé was part of the Kerry side that lost the epic recent All-Ireland semi-final clash over Dublin and there is uncertainty over whether he will continue playing at inter-county senior level for the 2014 campaign.

O Sé has been living in Cork for several years and will now be steering the college’s first-year football recruits. Former Cork manager Billy Morgan is to continue to take the reins of the UCC Sigerson Cup side this year.

Tomás is following a family tradition of GAA management. His older brother Darragh is entering the second year of his stint at the helm of the Kerry U21 football side.

While his late uncle Páidí won All-Ireland titles as Kerry senior boss in 1997 and 2000, guided Westmeath to the 2004 Leinster senior title and also had a stint with the Clare footballers.
