AMERICAN COACHES SEEM to have a particularly unique talent for rallying their players with pre-match pep talks.
As the Beach Channel Dolphins prepared for a make-or-break play-off game, coach Victor Nazario nailed the moment with his tearful words of pride and encouragement.
Still reeling from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, Beach Channel’s high school footballers were scheduled to play the Port Richmond Raiders — a David versus Goliath contest, as Nazario described it, even at the best of times.
Beach Channel lost the game to Port Richmond 38-6 but Nazario’s speech, in which he saluted his players for their remarkable courage and determination, was incredible.
