THIRD-LEVEL SIDES reigned supreme in today’s hurling action in the Walsh Cup with NUI Galway, UCD and Dublin IT all triumphing.
NUI Galway won out 1-17 to 1-14 against Laois in Rathdowney after having lead by 1-7 to 0-9 at the break. UCD were 1-11 to 0-13 victors over Carlow in Dr Cullen Park with Wexford’s Jack Guiney hitting the only goal of the game.
Dublin IT won a high-scoring encounter against Westmeath by 3-17 to 4-12 after extra-time in Mullingar.
Next week’s quarter-final action will see NUIG take on Wexford, UCD face Dublin, Kilkenny take on Dublin IT while Galway will meet Offaly.
