The Masters

Watching the Masters? Come hang out with the cool kids in our open thread

Things are about to get serious at Augusta. If you’ve something to get off your chest, this is the place to do it.

IF YOU LIKE golf, it simply doesn’t get any better than Sunday at the Masters — and tonight promises to be no exception.

Sure we’re a little bit disappointed that Rory, G-Mac and Padraig couldn’t muster one proper challenge between the three of them but we’re over that now and looking forward to a cracking evening watching the world’s best do battle for a green jacket.

It’s packed at the top of the leaderboard with nine players within four strokes of the overnight lead and all of them will genuinely believe that they will be the man in the Butler Cabin when all is said and done tonight.

You don’t need us to remind you of all the different storylines. Can one of Adam Scott, Jason Day or Marc Leishman become the first Australian to win the Masters? With Langer, Westwood and Rose all looming on the fringes, will we end the long wait for a European winner?

Can 110/1 shot Angel Cabrera win a remarkable second green jacket? Or will the great Tiger Woods put controversy behind him and, for the first time in his stellar career, come from behind on the final day to win a Major?

Or will we have another new name on the honour roll of Major winners? With Brandt Snedeker and Matt Kuchar also among those in contentions, there’s every chance we will.

If you want to get involved in a bit of Masters chatter, the comments section is the place for that. Who will you be cheering home tonight? Who is going to thrive under the pressure and who is going to bottle it?

In the interests of full disclosure, this thread is completely behind Matt Kuchar so expect heavy doses of KUUUUUUUCH-related bias from any of Niall’s contributions.
